In the end, Fallout 4's story will be largely defined by the Faction decisions you make. Gradually, player choices will put them at odds, and final, irrevocable decisions will eventually be demanded of players.

After encountering the Institute, a player may also ally with the organization without immediately jeopardizing their relationship with previously-allied Factions. A player may gain favor as a Minuteman, a Brotherhood Initiate, and a Railroad member all at the same time. Rather, each Faction is endeavouring to act ethically in a complicated and dangerous world.Īt the opening of the game, players may progress through quest lines related to all four Factions. No one Faction is necessarily 'good' or 'evil' in any definitive sense. The Institute's mysterious motives involve the development and exploitation of synthetic life. The Brotherhood of Steel hope to create a stable, militaristic, and well-armed haven for human civilization.

The Railroad seek to help the Synths created by The Institute to escape and enjoy an independent existence. The Minutemen seek to promote the development of Settements ad stability across the Commonwealth. The four primary Fallout 4 factions are each aligned toward different goals and interests.
